Photographer Peg Gannon discovered these six sand hill cranes at Snake Creek, located outside of Rippey. “We had a pair nest there four or five years ago. They didn’t stay here the past two dry years. Hopefully they will stick around here or in Iowa,” reports Gannon.
“There are a couple pairs that nest in northeast Iowa. Last year there was a pair and one young stay at Dunbar Slough for a few weeks,” she added.
